(Northwood, IA) What might have been just another Tuesday for two local men, turned into a great day when they stopped by the Diamond Jo Casino. Robert (Bob) Haugen and his friend John Buehm, both from Clear Lake, came to the Diamond Jo this morning.

Haugen sat at a Wild Double Strike machine in the recently expanded gaming area at the Diamond Jo. At 10:15 this morning- the machine spun “Double 7, Wild, Double 7” across the pay line. “I won $16,000 before lunch!” Haugen joked. The $16,000 payout was the largest jackpot Haugen had ever won. When team members from the casino asked Haugen what his plans were for the winnings, he said he’d “give his wife some!”

The Diamond Jo is a full service casino with 500 employees. Since its opening in April 2006, The Diamond Jo Worth has welcomed more than 1 million visitors and distributed more than $11 million to the State of Iowa. In addition, the Diamond Jo has distributed more than $4 million to Worth County Development Authority, the casino’s non-profit co-licensee which funds education, Worth County Townships and regional non-profit organizations. The new Kitchen Buffet opened earlier this month and serves an array of comfort food from five action stations. The Diamond Jo Casino is located at exit 214 on I-35 in Northwood, Iowa.
